Holiday Clean-Up (Or Lack Thereof!)
Time for another ParentBloggers.com blog blast! This time, they want to know about how people clean and organize their homes after the holidays. (My answer? Not very well!)
It seems like the holidays flew by this year, doesn't it? You should have seen our house on the day after Chrimas. I don't even think I had time to blog about it, at the time! Jimmy and Monkeyboy took off early on the morning of the 26th for their fishing trip, leaving Diana and me in what felt like a giant pile of toys, clothes, boxes and paper. You couldn't even walk through the room! The couch where I sleep was buried in junk, and I had had to push everything onto the floor the night before just to go to sleep! I remember both Diana and I felt really overwhelmed that morning, and it was hard not to be irritable. Having such a messy house gives you a feeling of claustrophobia, doesn't it? Anyway, we eventually just forced ourselves to clean. I went through the baby's toy box and took out all of the toys she's outgrown, to be replaced with the new toys she'd actually play with! Diana did the same in Little Bear's room. We really rushed through it, probably throwing away a lot of cards, instruction manuals, etc, in the process.
As for all of the Christmas decorations... Yeah, its all still up. The tree, the stockings, everything. We just don't have the time or energy to do anything with it!
Hmm, maybe the people at the Right@Home website will have some tips for us!
Oh well, I sort of like the Christmas decorations up, anyway! It gives the house a warm, festive look. When I was a little kid, I used to cry all day long when my mom took down the Christmas stuff! I vowed that when I grew up, I would leave my Christmas decorations up all year long. So... maybe that's the plan!
